To set up a shipping template in TikTok Shop, first add your warehouse pickup address and return address under My Account → Account Settings → Warehouse Settings. Then go to Shipping → Shipping Template, click Add New Template, name it, set your excluded areas and delivery rates covering 0–30 kg, assign every area to a region, and click Submit.
This is groundwork you can't skip. Before TikTok Connector by SPL can sync your products to TikTok Shop, your warehouse, pickup and return locations, and shipping template all need to exist in Seller Center, and that's true whether you fulfill orders yourself or let the platform handle them.
Get it wrong and you'll hit the errors most sellers run into: products that won't link, a template that refuses to save, or a region that silently can't order from you. This guide walks through both steps and flags the settings that cause those problems.
TikTok Shop Integration — SPL
With your warehouse and template in place, SPL maps your Shopify locations to TikTok warehouses, syncs products and stock against them, and routes incoming orders to the right origin, so the setup you do once keeps working as your catalogue grows.
Watch: Setting up your warehouse and shipping template
Here's the whole setup on screen, from warehouse settings through to submitting the template. The written steps below add detail on each field and the limits that trip people up.
Why this has to come first
TikTok Shop needs to know two things before it will let a product go live: where the item ships from, and what it costs to ship it to the buyer. The warehouse answers the first; the shipping template answers the second. Without both, products have nowhere to originate and no delivery cost to quote, so they stay stuck.
This is the root cause behind one of the most common sync complaints: "Update needed, your products couldn't be linked due to a location address issue." Nine times out of ten it means the warehouse address is missing, incomplete, or not mapped. Setting this up properly now saves you troubleshooting later.
Step 1: Set up your warehouse and return location
In TikTok Shop Seller Center, go to My Account → Account Settings → Warehouse Settings.
Add your warehouse pickup address, the location orders will be shipped from.
Next, add a return address, where customer returns should be sent. This can be the same as your pickup address or a different location.
TikTok Shop then generates warehouse codes for both locations automatically. You don't need to do anything with these, but they're what your integration uses behind the scenes to map inventory to the right origin.
Step 2: Create your shipping template
With your addresses saved, go to Shipping → Shipping Template in Seller Center.
Click Add New Template. Note that you can only have one shipping template, so this single template needs to cover every region you sell to.
What each field does
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Template Name | Any name that identifies it clearly. |
| Shipping From & To | Auto-filled from the warehouse details you saved in Step 1. |
| Excluded Areas | Areas you don't deliver to. Buyers there won't be able to order. |
| Delivery Areas & Rates | Shipping fees per region. Your weight bands must cover 0–30 kg. |
| New Region | Group areas together so you can apply custom rules to each group. |
| Unassigned Areas | Anything not yet allocated to a region. Clear this list before submitting. |
When everything is filled in, click Submit to save.
If your template won't save
Nearly every failed submission comes down to one of these. Work through them in order:
- Weight bands don't reach 30 kg. Extend your top rate band so the range covers 0–30 kg.
- Unassigned areas remain. Every area has to belong to a region, check the unassigned list and allocate what's left.
- Warehouse address incomplete. If Shipping From is blank or partial, go back to Warehouse Settings and finish the address.
- No return address saved. Both pickup and return locations need to exist before the template will validate.
Template saved? Now connect it to your catalogue. SPL maps your Shopify locations to TikTok warehouses, syncs stock against them, and keeps orders flowing into Shopify with fulfillment pushed back automatically. Free to install, plans from $9.99/month.

Shipping template FAQs
Why won't my TikTok Shop shipping template save?
The usual culprit is the weight range: your rate bands must cover 0–30 kg, and if they stop short the template won't submit. After that, check for areas still sitting in the unassigned list, an incomplete warehouse address, or a missing return address. Fix whichever applies and resubmit, the form validates all four before it will save.
"Products couldn't be linked due to a location address issue", is this related?
Yes, directly. That error means TikTok Shop can't find a valid ship-from address for your products. Complete your warehouse pickup address in Warehouse Settings, make sure a return address exists, then map that warehouse to your Shopify location in your integration. Re-run the sync and the products should link.
Can I have more than one shipping template?
No, TikTok Shop allows a single shipping template per shop. That means one template has to cover every region you deliver to, with regions grouped and rates set inside it. If you need different rules for different areas, use the New Region option to group areas and apply custom rules within the same template.
Can I use my home address as the warehouse?
Yes. TikTok Shop needs a real, complete address it can validate as the origin point, it doesn't have to be a commercial warehouse. If you ship from home, use your home address. If you dropship, use your 3PL provider's address, since that's where parcels actually leave from.
Do I need this if TikTok Shop handles my fulfillment?
Yes. Warehouse, pickup and return locations, and a shipping template are required whether you choose Shipped by Seller or Shipped by Platform. The setup differs in who does the delivering, not in whether the configuration is needed.
What happens to areas I put in Excluded Areas?
Buyers in excluded areas simply can't place an order with you, your products won't be purchasable there. It's worth reviewing this list carefully, because an area excluded by accident quietly costs you sales with no error message to warn you.
Why do my shipping rates calculate wrong?
Rates are weight-based, so they depend on accurate product weights. If products have no weight, or a weight of zero, rates can't calculate properly and listings may be rejected outright with the "item cannot have a weight of 0" error. Set weights on each variant in Shopify, or configure default weights in your integration as a fallback.
