Sync Inventory with TikTok Shop in Real Time ( Shopify <-> Tiktok Shop Integration)

TIKTOK SHOP INTEGRATION

To sync your inventory with TikTok Shop in real time using SPL, open the app in your Shopify admin, go to Settings, then Product Settings. In Auto-Sync Settings, switch on the fields you want kept in step, including Inventory, and any change you make in Shopify will flow through to TikTok Shop automatically.

Stock accuracy is the difference between a smooth TikTok Shop channel and a stream of cancellations. If a product sells out on Shopify but TikTok still shows it available, buyers keep ordering something you cannot ship, and cancelled orders damage your seller metrics.

Auto-sync solves that by making Shopify the single source of truth. This guide covers how to turn it on, what each field controls, when you might prefer manual editing instead, and the one thing to understand before you flip the switch.

Not connected yet? Auto-sync only works once your store and TikTok Shop are linked and your products have been pushed across. If you are starting fresh, begin with connecting your Shopify products with TikTok Shop using SPL, then come back to this guide.

Watch: Setting up real-time inventory sync

Here is the full setup on screen, from opening Product Settings to choosing which fields sync. The written steps below explain what each toggle actually changes.

Why real-time inventory sync matters

Selling the same stock on two platforms creates a timing problem. Without a live connection, TikTok Shop keeps showing whatever stock number it was last told, which drifts further from reality with every Shopify sale.

That drift causes three specific headaches: overselling items you no longer have, cancelling orders you cannot fulfill, and losing sales on products that are actually back in stock but still show as unavailable on TikTok. Cancellations are the costly one, because TikTok Shop measures your fulfillment reliability and a pattern of cancellations can restrict your access to promotional features.

Auto-sync removes the guesswork. Shopify becomes the source of truth, and TikTok Shop follows it automatically.

Step 1: Open Product Settings in the app

Open the SPL app from your Shopify admin panel, go to Settings, then open Product Settings. This is where all sync behaviour is controlled.

Step 2: Enable auto-sync and choose your fields

In Auto-Sync Settings, you decide which product details stay linked between the two platforms. Auto-sync is optional, and it is field by field, so you can keep stock perfectly aligned while leaving other details free to differ.

Field What it does when enabled
Inventory Stock levels update on TikTok Shop as they change in Shopify. This is the one to enable if you enable nothing else.
Product Status Active or draft status carries across, so unpublishing in Shopify removes the item from TikTok Shop.
Product Title Title edits in Shopify replace the TikTok Shop title.
Product Description Description changes flow through to the TikTok listing.
Images Product images update on TikTok Shop when you change them in Shopify.
Price Price changes carry across, which keeps sale pricing consistent on both platforms.
Variants Variant changes, such as new sizes or colours, are reflected on TikTok Shop.

With these enabled, changes you make in Shopify automatically reflect in TikTok Shop, so you manage one catalogue instead of two.

Worth thinking about: many sellers enable Inventory, Product Status and Price, then leave Title, Description and Images off. That keeps stock and pricing exact while letting them write TikTok-specific copy that suits the platform's shorter, punchier style. Turning a field on means Shopify overwrites whatever you customised on TikTok.

Auto-sync or manual editing: which to use

Recommended

Auto-sync on

Shopify drives everything you toggled on. Best for accurate stock, consistent pricing and larger catalogues where manual updates are not realistic.

Full control

Auto-sync off

You edit TikTok listings by hand. Best when you want TikTok-specific titles, images or pricing, and you are willing to keep stock updated yourself.

Step 3: Manual editing in TikTok Shop

If auto-sync is disabled, you can update products manually instead.

Click Edit next to the product you want to change.

Make your changes, such as price, description or images, then save.

Important: manual edits apply to TikTok Shop only, not to Shopify. Your Shopify product stays exactly as it was. Keep in mind that if you later switch auto-sync on for a field you edited manually, the Shopify value will overwrite your TikTok customisation.

Tired of stock drifting out of sync? SPL keeps inventory, pricing and product details aligned between Shopify and TikTok Shop automatically, with field-level control over exactly what syncs. Free to install, plans from $9.99/month.

Inventory sync best practices

Enable Inventory sync at minimum, even if you leave every other field off
Decide which platform owns your product copy before switching Title and Description on
Keep Product Status synced so unpublished items disappear from TikTok Shop automatically
Make sure your warehouse is connected, since inventory syncs against a location
Check a few products after enabling, to confirm values are landing as expected
Remember that manual TikTok edits are overwritten if you later enable that field

Inventory sync FAQs

My inventory is not updating on TikTok Shop. What is wrong?

Start with the obvious one, which is that Inventory is not switched on in Auto-Sync Settings. If it is enabled and stock still is not moving, check that the product is properly linked between the two platforms, and that your warehouse is connected and mapped to the Shopify location holding the stock. Inventory syncs against a location, so an unmapped warehouse is the usual culprit. If the product was never successfully linked, re-run the sync and look for errors on that specific item.

Does inventory sync work both ways?

Yes. SPL supports two-way sync, so a sale on TikTok Shop reduces your Shopify stock and a sale on Shopify reduces what is available on TikTok. That is the point of running it live, since it prevents you from selling the same unit twice across two platforms.

Will enabling auto-sync overwrite the edits I made in TikTok Shop?

For any field you turn on, yes. Auto-sync makes Shopify the source of truth, so if you enable Product Title after writing a custom TikTok title, the Shopify title replaces it. If you want to keep TikTok-specific copy, leave Title, Description and Images off, and sync only Inventory, Price and Product Status.

Can I sync stock but keep different prices on TikTok Shop?

Yes. Because auto-sync is field by field, you can enable Inventory and leave Price off, then set TikTok prices yourself. Many sellers do this to absorb TikTok Shop commission or run platform-specific promotions without touching their Shopify pricing.

Do manual edits in TikTok Shop change my Shopify products?

No. Edits you make to a TikTok listing apply to TikTok Shop only. Your Shopify product is untouched, which is useful when you want platform-specific content but it also means you are maintaining two versions of that field.

How quickly do changes appear on TikTok Shop?

Syncing runs in real time, so updates typically appear within moments of the change in Shopify. Occasional short delays can happen during high load or when TikTok Shop is processing a large batch of updates, so if something has not landed immediately, give it a little time before troubleshooting.

Should I turn on every sync field?

Not necessarily. Inventory and Product Status are worth enabling for almost everyone, because they prevent overselling and stop unpublished items appearing on TikTok. Title, Description and Images are a judgement call, since TikTok Shop rewards shorter, punchier copy than a typical Shopify product page, and syncing those fields removes your ability to tailor them.
