Split a TikTok Order into Multiple Packages, Each with Its Own Tracking

TIKTOK SHOP INTEGRATION

When a customer orders several items but you cannot ship them all at once, SPL lets you split the order into separate packages and send each one on its own. In the Orders list, click the split icon on the order, check the items you want together and click Create Group, repeat for each package, then click Split Order to lock it in. After that, each package is fulfilled separately with its own courier and tracking number, and carries its own status like Awaiting Shipment, In Transit or Delivered. One order, multiple shipments, each tracked independently.

Splitting exists for a simple reason: the customer should not have to wait for a slow item before the ready ones ship. Instead of holding the whole order, you send what is ready now and follow up with the rest.

This guide walks the split step by step, then how to fulfill each package, and the one point of no return to watch for.

Splitting vs fulfilling. This guide is about creating the packages by splitting an order. Once a package exists, fulfilling it works the same as any other order. If you use TikTok's logistics, see our 4PL fulfillment guide, or the US 4PL guide.

What is order splitting?

Sometimes a customer orders many items together, but you may not have all of them ready to ship at the same time. Instead of making the customer wait for everything, you can split the order into smaller packages and send them one by one. Each package can be shipped and tracked on its own.

Why sellers split orders

Some items are ready, some are not ready yet
Items may be in different warehouses
The customer gets their ready items faster, instead of waiting for everything
Each package can have its own courier and tracking number
It makes shipping easier for the seller's team

If your items sit in different locations, this pairs naturally with how you have your warehouses set up, covered in our guide to connecting your warehouse.

Step 1: Click the split icon on the order

Go to your Orders list and find the order you want to split. In the Action column, click the small split icon. This opens a window where you can start dividing the order's items into packages.

Step 2: Select items and create a group

A window opens showing all the items in the order, each with a checkbox.

  1. Check the box next to the items you want to put together in one package.
  2. Click the Create Group button.

Repeat this for every package you want to make. Each group you create becomes its own package. For example:

Group Items
Group 1 The 2 Facial Moisturiser items
Group 2 1 Pretty Gold Necklace
Group 3 The other Pretty Gold Necklace

Step 3: Click the Split Order button

Once you have created all your groups, you will see them listed with a Group ID and the line items inside each group. Check everything looks correct, then click the Split Order button at the bottom to confirm.

This step is final. Clicking Split Order locks your groups in and turns them into real, separate packages. Check the groups carefully first. If you spot a mistake before confirming, click Discard instead to cancel and start over.

Items not always ready together? SPL lets you split an order and ship each package with its own courier and tracking, so ready items go out now. Free to install, plans from $9.99/month.

Step 4: Fulfill each package separately

Now each package can be shipped and tracked on its own. Open the fulfillment window again, then for each package:

  1. Select which package, meaning the line item group, you are shipping using the round button.
  2. Choose the Courier, your shipping provider, from the dropdown.
  3. Enter the Tracking Number for that package.
  4. Click Fulfill on TikTok.

Repeat this separately for each remaining package, whenever it is ready to ship. Each one keeps its own courier and tracking number, and its own shipping status such as Awaiting Shipment, In Transit or Delivered. For more on adding tracking, see our guide to syncing tracking numbers to TikTok Shop.

Quick rules to remember

Only split the order if items are not all ready at the same time
Check your groups carefully before clicking Split Order, since it is final
Give each package its own courier and tracking number
Keep checking each package's status until every one is delivered
Let the customer know their order is coming in more than one package

The whole flow in one line

Splitting an order is simple: click the split icon, select items and Create Group, click Split Order, then fulfill each package with its own tracking number. This helps you send ready items faster, and lets both you and the customer track each package on its own, even though everything came from one single order.

Order splitting FAQs

Can I undo an order split after confirming?

Clicking Split Order is final, it locks your groups in and turns them into real, separate packages. Before you confirm, you can review the groups and click Discard to cancel and start over. So the time to catch a mistake is while you are still reviewing the groups, not after. Check each group's items carefully before hitting Split Order.

Why would I split a TikTok order into multiple packages?

Usually because you cannot ship everything at once. Some items may be ready while others are not, or items may sit in different warehouses. Splitting lets the customer get their ready items faster instead of waiting for the whole order, gives each package its own courier and tracking, and makes shipping easier for your team to manage.

Does each package get its own tracking number?

Yes. After splitting, you fulfill each package separately, choosing its courier and entering its own tracking number. Each package then carries its own shipping status, such as Awaiting Shipment, In Transit or Delivered, so both you and the customer can follow each shipment independently even though it all came from one order.

How do I fulfill each package after splitting?

Open the fulfillment window, select the package (line item group) with the round button, choose the courier from the dropdown, enter the tracking number, and click Fulfill on TikTok. Repeat for each remaining package whenever it is ready to ship. You do not have to ship them all at the same time, that is the whole point of splitting.

Should I tell the customer their order is coming in multiple packages?

Yes, it is a good idea. Letting the customer know their order will arrive in more than one package sets expectations and reduces worried messages when only part of the order shows up first. Since each package has its own tracking number, you can share those so they can follow each shipment.

When should I not split an order?

If all the items are ready to ship together, there is no need to split, just fulfill the order as one shipment. Splitting is specifically for when items are not all ready at the same time or are coming from different locations. Splitting unnecessarily only adds more packages and tracking numbers to manage.
