TikTok Shop Order Statuses Explained: On Hold to Delivered

TIKTOK SHOP INTEGRATION

SPL shows seven TikTok Shop order statuses in real time: All Orders, On Hold, Awaiting Shipment, Awaiting Collection, In Transit, Delivered and Cancelled. The one that trips sellers up is On Hold, a short pause (about an hour, mostly in the US) during which customer address details are hidden, fulfillment cannot start, and inventory does not sync. Stock only syncs once an order moves to Awaiting Shipment, so wait until an order leaves On Hold before importing or shipping it.

Managing orders well starts with knowing what each status actually means. SPL mirrors TikTok Shop's statuses in real time, so you can track fulfillment, inventory and shipping from one place. This guide explains each status from both the seller's and buyer's side, and flags the timing rules that keep your stock accurate.

Order not importing or details missing? Very often it is simply On Hold, which is normal and clears itself. If an order genuinely will not sync after that, see our guide to why TikTok Shop orders fail to sync.

On Hold orders

Orders marked On Hold are temporarily paused by TikTok, usually for about an hour in some regions, mostly the US. The pause prevents fulfillment errors and keeps inventory and order data accurate until TikTok releases the order. This is the status that causes the most confusion, so it is worth understanding fully.

For the buyer

There is a one-hour grace period to cancel without needing seller approval. Payment may be a temporary authorization that only becomes final after the hold ends.

For the seller

Fulfillment cannot begin and shipping labels cannot be created. The buyer's shipping and recipient details are not available via the TikTok API yet. After the hold, orders move to Awaiting Shipment or Unfulfilled, which enables inventory sync.

Do not import or ship an On Hold order. Inventory sync only happens after the order moves to Awaiting Shipment. Address details are not available during the hold, and buyers may still cancel or modify the order. Importing early risks inaccurate stock and wasted effort, so wait for the hold to clear.

Awaiting Shipment

Orders marked Awaiting Shipment have been processed and packaged by the seller and are waiting to be handed to a shipping carrier. The order is ready for carrier handoff, and inventory is actively managed.

From the buyer's side, the order is ready and the carrier should pick it up soon. From the seller's side, this is where the real work begins: SPL starts syncing inventory once the order leaves On Hold, fulfillment starts when tracking information is added, and inventory updates happen in real time after the order is imported into Shopify.

Two things can stall an order here: a carrier delay postponing pickup, or the seller not having added tracking, which prevents SPL from starting fulfillment. Adding tracking numbers promptly keeps things moving.

Awaiting Collection

Orders marked Awaiting Collection are waiting at the seller's location or warehouse for pickup by a logistics partner. This is common in regions where the carrier collects packages rather than the seller dropping them off. It signals the order is ready and waiting for the next step in fulfillment.

For the buyer, the order is staged but transit has not started, so there may be a short delay until pickup. For the seller, inventory syncing begins once the order is imported from On Hold, and fulfillment officially starts once tracking is added and the carrier collects the package.

In Transit orders

Orders marked In Transit have been collected by the carrier and are on their way to the customer. This status keeps both seller and buyer informed about shipping progress and estimated delivery.

For the buyer, the package has left the seller's location, and tracking updates show its journey and estimated delivery. Buyers can check status in the TikTok app under Orders. One number worth knowing: if no tracking scans occur for seven business days, the package may be considered lost.

For the seller, this gives visibility into shipping progress and the chance to communicate proactively if a delay or issue comes up. The main risks are abnormal delivery, meaning a lost, delayed or damaged package, which may need communication to resolve.

Delivered orders

A Delivered status confirms the order has reached the customer successfully. Fulfillment is complete, and from here you can monitor for returns, complaints or feedback.

On the seller side, it is visible in TikTok Seller Center under Manage Orders and updates automatically once the logistics provider confirms delivery. For UPS or FedEx, a Proof of Delivery link may include a photo. Buyers can view it by opening the TikTok app, going to their profile, tapping the Orders icon, and locating the specific order.

Cancelled orders

A Cancelled order means the transaction has been terminated, preventing shipment and payment processing. Tracking cancellations helps you manage inventory and spot process issues.

Common reasons for cancellation

Source Typical cause
Customer-initiated Change of mind, a mistake, or a shipping correction
Seller-initiated Stock damage, pricing errors, or delayed fulfillment
Payment failure Insufficient funds or a declined payment
Platform-initiated Fraud suspicion, regulatory issues, or lost packages
Seller inaction TikTok auto-approves cancellations if the seller does not respond within 24 hours

When an order is cancelled, no shipment occurs, the customer receives a refund, and both buyer and seller are notified. As the seller, check TikTok Seller Center for the cancellation reason, adjust inventory if needed, and communicate with the buyer where it helps. Keeping refunds and stock aligned is exactly what the returns and refunds sync handles automatically.

How order status affects inventory sync

The single rule to remember ties every status together:

Inventory does not sync while an order is On Hold
Once the order moves to Awaiting Shipment, SPL updates inventory in real time
Wait until an order leaves On Hold before manually importing or shipping, to keep stock accurate

Follow that and your stock levels stay correct across both platforms. For the full picture of how stock moves between Shopify and TikTok, see our guide to real-time inventory sync.

Order status FAQs

Why is my TikTok Shop order stuck On Hold?

On Hold is normal, not a fault. TikTok pauses new orders briefly, usually for about an hour and mostly in the US, to prevent fulfillment errors and to give buyers a short window to cancel or change the order. During the hold you cannot ship, shipping labels cannot be created, and the customer's address details are not available yet. Once the hold clears, the order moves to Awaiting Shipment or Unfulfilled and inventory sync begins.

Why can I not see the customer's address on a new order?

If the order is On Hold, the buyer's shipping and recipient details are not available through the TikTok API during that period. This is by design while the order is paused. Once it leaves On Hold and moves to Awaiting Shipment, the details become available and you can proceed with fulfillment. If details stay hidden well beyond the hold, that is a separate shipping-setting issue rather than order status.

Should I import or ship an order while it is On Hold?

No. Do not manually import or ship an On Hold order. Inventory only syncs once the order moves to Awaiting Shipment, and the buyer can still cancel or modify during the hold. Importing early risks inaccurate stock and wasted work, so wait for the order to leave On Hold first.

What is the difference between Awaiting Shipment and Awaiting Collection?

Both mean the order is packaged and ready, but the handoff differs. Awaiting Shipment means it is waiting to be handed to a carrier, typically where you drop off or the carrier collects generally. Awaiting Collection specifically means the package is staged at your location or warehouse for a logistics partner to pick up, which is common in regions where carriers collect rather than sellers drop off. In both, fulfillment officially starts once tracking is added.

When is a package considered lost in transit?

If a package shows no tracking scans for seven business days while In Transit, it may be considered lost. It is worth watching In Transit orders for stalled tracking so you can contact the carrier or the buyer proactively before it reaches that point.

What happens if I do not respond to a cancellation request?

TikTok auto-approves the cancellation if you do not respond within 24 hours. When an order is cancelled, no shipment occurs, the customer is refunded, and both parties are notified. Check Seller Center for the reason, adjust your inventory if needed, and reach out to the buyer where it helps resolve the situation.

Does SPL update these statuses automatically?

Yes. SPL reflects real-time updates from TikTok Shop, so the status you see in SPL mirrors the order's actual state. That lets you monitor fulfillment, inventory and shipping progress from one place, and inventory syncs automatically once an order becomes eligible, meaning after it leaves On Hold.
