TikTok Shop Connector by SPL can sync returns and refunds from TikTok Shop to Shopify automatically. Turn on Auto-Sync Return and Refund under Settings, then Order Settings, and a cancellation or refund in Shopify is mirrored on TikTok Shop, returned items are auto-restocked once resolved, and TikTok returns import into Shopify so you can track them. It keeps both stores in agreement without any double handling.
Returns are the part of selling that quietly creates the most double work. Refund on one platform, remember to refund on the other, adjust the stock by hand, and hope nothing slips. Miss a step and you have mismatched records, wrong inventory, or a customer refunded twice.
This feature removes that busywork. This guide covers what it syncs, how the Shopify cancellation flow works, and how to switch on auto-sync so refunds and restocks handle themselves.
TikTok Shop Integration — SPL
Mirrors cancellations and refunds between Shopify and TikTok Shop, auto-restocks returned items once a return is resolved, and imports TikTok returns into Shopify so your records and inventory stay accurate on both sides.
What the return and refund sync does
The feature covers three jobs, which together keep your two stores consistent after a sale goes backwards.
Auto-sync refunds and returns
Refund and return order information flows from TikTok Shop to Shopify automatically, so both platforms show the same status.
Auto-restock resolved returns
Once a return is resolved on TikTok Shop, the item is restocked on Shopify, keeping inventory accurate and avoiding false stockouts.
Import returns for tracking
TikTok Shop returns import into Shopify for your records, so you can monitor customer returns in one place.
How it works: cancelling an order in Shopify
When you cancel or refund an order in Shopify, SPL passes that action to TikTok Shop so the two match. Here is the flow.
Go to Orders in your Shopify admin.
Click the order you want to cancel or refund.
Click More actions, then Cancel Order.
In the popup, select Refund now or Refund later, provide a reason for cancellation, and click Cancel order.
How to enable auto-sync for returns and refunds
For Shopify cancellations and refunds to reflect on TikTok Shop, the feature has to be switched on. In the TikTok Shop Connector by SPL admin panel, go to Settings → Order Settings → Return and Refund Sync.
Shift the toggle to the right to enable Auto-Sync Return and Refund. From now on, any order canceled in Shopify is automatically canceled and refunded on TikTok Shop.
Done refunding the same order twice? SPL mirrors cancellations and refunds across Shopify and TikTok Shop, and restocks returned items automatically. Free to install, plans from $9.99/month.
Install SPL free →Why syncing returns is worth switching on
| Without sync | With auto-sync on |
|---|---|
| Refund on each platform separately | Refund once in Shopify, TikTok follows |
| Restock returned items by hand | Resolved returns restock automatically |
| Records drift out of step | Both stores show the same status |
| Risk of double refunds and stockouts | Accurate inventory, fewer mistakes |
Accurate stock after a return matters more than it sounds. A returned item that never gets restocked is a phantom stockout, a unit you could have sold but that your system thinks is gone. Auto-restock closes that gap, which ties directly into your wider inventory sync setup.
Returns and refunds tips
✓ Handle cancellations from Shopify and let TikTok Shop follow, to keep one source of truth
✓ Always add a clear reason for cancellation, since it carries useful context across
✓ Rely on auto-restock so returned stock becomes sellable again without manual edits
✓ Use imported returns to spot patterns, such as a product returned more often than others
Returns and refunds sync FAQs
If I refund an order in Shopify, does it refund on TikTok Shop too?
Yes, as long as Auto-Sync Return and Refund is enabled. When you cancel and refund an order in Shopify, SPL passes that action to TikTok Shop, which automatically cancels and refunds the matching order. You do the work once in Shopify and the two stores stay in step, with no need to repeat the refund on TikTok.
Does returned stock go back into my Shopify inventory automatically?
Yes. Once a return order is resolved on TikTok Shop, the item is auto-restocked on Shopify. That keeps your inventory accurate and avoids a false stockout where a returned unit is sitting on your shelf but your system still counts it as gone.
Where do I turn this feature on?
In the TikTok Shop Connector by SPL admin panel, go to Settings, then Order Settings, then Return and Refund Sync, and shift the toggle to the right to enable Auto-Sync Return and Refund. Until that toggle is on, cancellations in Shopify will not carry across to TikTok Shop.
What is the difference between Refund now and Refund later?
These are standard Shopify options in the cancel order popup. Refund now processes the customer's refund immediately as you cancel, while Refund later cancels the order but leaves you to issue the refund at a later point. Choose based on your own process, then add a reason for cancellation and confirm.
Can I see TikTok Shop returns inside Shopify?
Yes. The feature imports returns from TikTok Shop into Shopify for informational purposes, so you can monitor customer returns from one place rather than checking two dashboards. It is a convenient way to spot products that come back more often than others.
Do I have to manage returns from both platforms?
No, that is the point of the feature. With auto-sync enabled you manage cancellations and refunds from Shopify, and TikTok Shop is kept in agreement automatically. Returns raised on TikTok Shop are imported into Shopify so you have visibility without switching between systems.
Why should I add a reason when cancelling?
A reason for cancellation is required in the Shopify popup and it gives useful context that travels with the record. Over time, consistent reasons help you see why orders get cancelled or returned, which is worth having when you review product quality or customer experience.
