How to Update Tax & Bank Details for TikTok Shop

TIKTOK SHOP INTEGRATION

Tax information and bank details for TikTok Shop are always entered in TikTok Seller Center, not stored in SPL. Clicking Update Tax Information or Update Bank Details inside the SPL app simply redirects you to the right page in Seller Center: tax details go under Tax Settings, bank details under Payment Settings. Once you save them there, SPL detects them automatically and you can start syncing products.

This is one of those setup steps that quietly blocks everything else until it is done. If your tax and bank details are incomplete, TikTok Shop can hold up listings and payouts, and SPL keeps showing a Review Listing prompt instead of letting you sync.

The good news is that it is a one-time job. This guide covers exactly where each field lives, how SPL fits in, and the workaround for the tax error US sellers keep hitting.

The one thing to understand first: SPL does not store your tax or bank details. Everything is entered and held in TikTok Seller Center. SPL only reads whether it is complete, so there is nothing sensitive to update separately inside the app.

TikTok Shop Integration — SPL

Points you straight to the right tax and payment pages in TikTok Seller Center, then detects your details automatically so you can get on with syncing. Your financial information stays in Seller Center, never in the app.

Where SPL sends you, and why

To keep financial transactions and tax compliance smooth between Shopify and TikTok Shop, your tax information and bank details need to be in place. Both are managed in TikTok Seller Center. When you click one of these buttons inside SPL, it redirects you to the matching Seller Center page:

In SPL you click It takes you to
Update Bank Details TikTok Seller Center → Payment Settings
Update Tax Information TikTok Seller Center → Tax Settings

You can also go straight to Seller Center and enter it there without touching SPL first. Either way, once it is saved, SPL recognises it automatically and you can start syncing immediately, with nothing to update separately inside the app.

Step 1: Update your tax information

Correct tax information is what lets your products list and your orders process properly. To add it, log in to TikTok Seller Center and go to My Account → Tax Information.

Navigating to Tax Information under My Account in TikTok Seller Center Tax Information page in TikTok Seller Center

Fill in the required fields based on your country and business type:

  • US sellers: Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN or EIN)
  • Other countries: VAT, GST, or your local tax ID

Click Save to confirm.

US sellers, read this: a lot of sellers report errors when saving tax information. If it will not go through, try a VPN, an incognito or private window, or a different browser, then enter the details directly in TikTok Seller Center. This is a known Seller Center quirk rather than anything wrong with your details or with SPL.

Step 2: Update your bank details

To receive payouts from TikTok Shop, you need valid bank details on file. Log in to TikTok Seller Center and go to My Account → Account Settings → Bank Account.

Add your bank account details:

  • Bank name
  • Account number or IBAN
  • Routing number or SWIFT, if applicable

Click Save. Once saved, SPL automatically detects the bank account and payouts are processed without any additional updates in the app.

Step 3: Verify in SPL

After updating both in Seller Center, confirm SPL has picked them up:

  1. Open the SPL app in your Shopify admin.
  2. Go to the Products tab.
  3. The Review Listing pop-up will no longer appear.
  4. You can now sync products with no extra setup.

That disappearing Review Listing prompt is your confirmation. If it is gone, your details are recognised and you are clear to sync. If it is still there, the tax or bank information has not saved correctly in Seller Center yet, so go back and check both.

Ready to sync once compliance is sorted? With tax and bank details in place, SPL detects them automatically and lets you list, sync and fulfill without extra setup. Free to install, plans from $9.99/month.

Tax and bank details FAQs

I'm a US seller and my tax information will not save. How do I fix it?

This is a widely reported TikTok Seller Center issue, not a problem with your details or with SPL. The usual workaround is to try again using a VPN, an incognito or private browsing window, or a different browser altogether, and to enter the tax information directly in Seller Center rather than through the app redirect. One of those three nearly always clears it.

Does SPL store my tax or bank details?

No. SPL does not store any tax or bank information. Everything is entered and held in TikTok Seller Center. SPL only detects whether the details are complete so it knows you are ready to sync, which is why there is nothing sensitive to fill in inside the app itself.

Do I need to update these details in both SPL and TikTok?

No, only in TikTok Seller Center. Once you save your tax and bank details there, SPL detects the change automatically, so there is no separate update to make in the app. Clicking the buttons in SPL just saves you a click by redirecting you to the correct Seller Center page.

Where exactly do tax and bank details live in Seller Center?

Tax information is under Tax Settings, reached via My Account then Tax Information. Bank details are under Payment Settings, reached via My Account then Account Settings then Bank Account. The Update buttons in SPL link straight to these two pages.

Which tax ID do I need to enter?

It depends on your country and business type. US sellers enter a Taxpayer Identification Number, which is the TIN or EIN. Sellers elsewhere enter a VAT number, GST number, or their local tax ID. Seller Center shows the right fields for your registered region.

How do I know the details have been accepted?

Open the SPL app and go to the Products tab. If the Review Listing pop-up no longer appears, your tax and bank details have been detected and you can sync products. If the prompt is still showing, something has not saved correctly in Seller Center, so recheck both entries there.

Why do I need to add this before I can sync products?

TikTok Shop uses your tax information for compliance and your bank details for payouts, so it treats both as prerequisites for trading. Until they are complete, listings and payments can be held up, and SPL keeps prompting you to review your listing. Completing them once clears the way for everything that follows.
